These cotton wristbands are woven by hand by women and children around Lake Atitlan whilst herding their animals. This has become a secondary income source for the people of the area. Length: 250mm (10") x  12mm (½") wide. Vast range of colours and colour combinations.

This knot-craft, hand weaving traditionally stems from Central American Handicrafts where according to indigenous tradition, the recipient of a friendship bracelet must wear it until the cords wear out and it falls off naturally. Another variation of this tradition is that the recipient of a bracelet is entitled to a wish, only after the bracelet wears out and falls off naturally, will the wish come true.
