Tubular wristbands in a variety of colours hand woven in Guatemala. These cotton wristbands are woven by hand by women and children around Lake Atitlan whilst herding their animals. This has become a secondary income source for the people of the area. Length: 25cm (10") Vast range of colours and colour combinations.

 

This hand weaving traditionally stems from Central American Handicrafts where according to indigenous tradition, the recipient of a friendship bracelet must wear it until the cords wear out and it falls off naturally. Another variation of this tradition is that the recipient of a bracelet is entitled to a wish, only after the bracelet wears out and falls off naturally, will the wish come true.

I've wanted some of these for literally years but I've never found any nice enough! These were so cheap, and extremely well made, and them being fair trade is a bonus! I am very satisfied with my order. I will wear these bracelets on holiday in Portugal next week My dad even wears a blue one! Thank you very much.
